Review: Marly Bird's Yarn Pooling Made Easy

CONTEST CLOSED: THE WINNER IS CHRIS LOPEZ! Congratulations Chris!

Guys! I have a new book review & contest for you =) I'm thrilled to be able to talk about this new book by my friend, Marly Bird. I got to meet Marly in Chicago this summer, and I am so happy I did! (Did you know that she is super tall?) she's been on the crochet scene for so long that I was starstruck & starry-eyed.. but she is so fun and down to earth that I quickly added her to my list of favorite people.

I'm sure you've heard of colour pooling. Colour pooling happens with variegated yarns, as a fact of life - and sometimes we hate it... especially when we can't control it - when it is unplanned.

But crochet is math, and so someone was going to math this problem out. And so for about a year now, we've known that it's possible to use this pooling property of variegated yarns to produce gorgeous colour patterns.

This is where Marly's book comes in.

Planned colour pooling has been around for about a year, but is not necessarily easy to pick up. This book aims to help you with this!

I love Marly’s bubbly personality and infectious laughter and how her face lights up when she laughs with her whole being. <3 She is very knowledgeable about both crocheting and knitting and yarn in general! Her friendly openness and easygoing manner make her fun to watch. :)

Like a lot of crafters, I’ve spent years trying to AVOID pooling and flashing with variegated yarns. I love that Marly saw an opportunity instead of a problem. And that once she had the answers, she shared them so we could all fly this this amazing Bird! Thanks for the giveaway, KittenWhiplash on ravelry.

I love her video tutorial & how she gets you to be as excited as she is about fun projects. I learned color pooling using her YouTube video! Her video was far more informative than any other I tried to follow. Just love Marly Bird! <3
