It's International Granny Square Day!
Did you know that August 15 is International Granny Square Day? Well it is! And I'm so EXCITED (if you can't tell)!
On this day, we celebrate our beloved classic. The day came about in 2014, when crochet enthusiast Susan Regalia used Instagram’s image grid to create a gorgeous classic granny square patchwork online. The celebration is now a favourite of crocheters everywhere.
Throughout the years, granny squares have charmed new generations of crocheters. And in all transparence, it has irked a lot of our colleagues as well. No one is indifferent to granny squares.
I am SQUARELY Team Granny. See what I did there?
So I've pulled together 7 links to my crochet patterns in which the granny square or the granny stitch are featured.
Granny Squares in Crochet Garments
- Granny Lives Here - New to the collection, this crochet sweater is entirely composed of beautiful granny squares.
- Granny Wears a Crop Top - This cropped version of the crochet sweater above shows the same love of granny squares... while requiring less of them!
- Not-So-Granny - Giant granny squares adorn the front and back of this lovely tee.
- Stella Squared - Granny squares are featured at the arms of this long-sleeved shrug.
Granny Squares in Crochet Accessories
- Granny des Bois - Granny squares live with us year-round in this hat and cowl duo of crochet patterns.
- Granny Beach Bag - This beach bag is the first pattern in which I used granny squares! Still a favourite of mine.
- Marshmallow Bag - This bag features the granny stitch and is the perfect handbag or makeup bag size!
