Granny Square Pouch Free Crochet Pattern
SUPPLIES NEEDED TO CROCHET THE GRANNY SQUARE
Make this project with the yarn weight and hook of your choice. I used worsted weight yarn (Medium|4) and a 5 mm hook.
You will also need: stitch marker, yarn needle and scissors.
STITCH GUIDE
ch… chain
dc… double crochet
RS… right side
sl st… slip stitch
st… stitch
NOTES
Ch-3 at beginning of rounds counts as a dc. Granny squares are worked… in the round. Join rounds with a sl st. RS will always be facing you.
GRANNY SQUARE
Ch 5, join with sl st in fifth ch from hook.
Round 1 (RS). Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 3, [3 dc in ring, ch 3] three times, sl st in third starting ch—12 dc, 4 ch-3 corners.
Round 2. Ch 3, dc in each st to corner, [(2 dc, ch 3, 2dc) in corner*, dc in each st to corner] 4 times ending last repeat at *, sl st in third starting ch–28 dc, 4 corners.
Round 3. Ch 3, dc in each st to corner, [(2 dc, ch 3, 2dc) in corner*, dc in each st to corner] 4 times ending last repeat at *, dc in each st to end, sl st in third starting ch—44 dc, 4 corners.
Repeat Round 3 to desired size. Each round adds 16 sts.
At the end of the last round, fasten off.
Weave ends in.
ASSEMBLE THE POUCH
Supplies needed to assemble the pouch:
Fabric, fabric glue, decorative button, sewing needle and thread.
Cut fabric to fit inside the granny square. You want the last round of your granny square to be visible. Glue the fabric to the wrong side of the granny square. Sew the button to the right side of the granny square, in any corner.
To close the pouch, button the three free corners onto the decorative button.
