Technical Editing for Crochet, Tunisian Crochet and Knitting Patterns

Professional, accurate and supportive tech editing to help you publish clear, reliable, and maker‑friendly patterns.

Why you should have your patterns tech edited

A clear, logical, and consistent pattern is the foundation of a positive experience for crocheters and knitters.

Technical editing helps you provide a pattern that is:

  • free of mathematical errors,
  • free of inconsistencies between sizes,
  • free of vague or ambiguous sections,
  • free of surprises and frustrations for makers,
  • and above all… not stressful for you.

I review crochet, Tunisian crochet, and knitting patterns from beginner to advanced levels, including patterns intended for your pattern shop, books, collections, or other professional publications.

I work with designers and publishers, both.

What I check for you

As part of my comprehensive, thorough, and thoughtful review, I check:

  • mathematics (stitches, rows, repeats, proportions)
  • logic and feasibility of the instructions
  • consistency across sizes (not including grading)
  • use of knitting/crochet terminology
  • internal consistency of the pattern
  • charts (validation and corrections)
  • clarity of instructions;
  • and I make suggestions for rewording where necessary

You’ll receive a clearer, more robust, and more professional pattern, without losing your style.

My approach: rigor, guidance, and respect for your voice

I am a designer, instructor, and service provider. I understand your reality, your doubts, your constraints, and your goals. That’s why my technical review is based on three principles:

  1. Your style remains your own
    I don’t rewrite your pattern.
I clarify and adjust it—but your voice remains intact.
  2. You are supported, not judged
A technical edit is not an exam.
It is professional support to help you publish a reliable pattern that is easy to follow.
  3. You gain confidence and fluidity
My role is to simplify your life, not complicate it.
I clearly explain what needs to be adjusted and why.

What a technical review is NOT

  • It is not a judgment on your skill level.
  • It is not a complete rewrite of your pattern.
  • It is not a test.
  • It is not a grading service.
  • It is not a transformation of your style.

It is professional support to help you publish a solid, clear, and easy-to-follow pattern.

Technical editing vs. testing: what's the difference

In short:

The test evaluates the maker's experience of following the pattern. No more, no less.
The technical edit assesses the pattern's structure, logic, and consistency.

The two go hand in hand, but it's the technical edit that ensures your pattern is error-free before it reaches your audience.
