If you're here, you've purchased one of the 4 seasonal sky kits from Artfil in order to work on this feel good crochet pattern. Thank you!

I was so excited to be asked by Yana to work on this project with her. She's truly a gem.

I hope you'll enjoy this pattern and CAL.

Fold the 2 bumps at the end so their wrong sides face each other, sl st through both thicknesses. Finish off A. Thumb loop created.

Rainbow

Counting from approximate middle, where 1 is the stitch before or after middle, PM in the 27th space ON BOTH SIDES.

Now, with WS facing join C (finally!) with sl st in previous sp.

  • Row 35. Ch 1, *v-stitch in next sp, repeat from * across ending in next marked sp, sl st in next sp, turn. 55 v-stitchremove markers.

Working only across C to start, and increasing as indicated,

  • Row 36. Ch 1, v-stitch in ea sp across including last sp (the one with a sl st), sl st in next sp, turn. +1 v-stitch
  • Row 37. Ch 1, v-stitch in ea sp across including last sp (the one with a sl st) and next 2 sps, sl st in next sp, turn. + 3 v-stitch
  • Rows 38-xx. Repeat Rows 36-37 until C is entirely used up. If you run out of spaces on either side, start decreasing your rainbow by finishing with a sl st in the sp before the last sp.

Make this project yours:

You may choose to Repeat as instructed, or

…ONLY repeat Row 36, +1 v-stitch on either side – higher rainbow.

…ONLY repeat Row 37, +3 v-stitch on either side – wider rainbow.

…repeat either or both as you wish.

This will result in slightly different shawls for each crocheter =)

Finishing

Because of the possible variations in tension and in rainbow repeats, there are no stitch counts in this section.

  • Finishing-Row 1. With WS facing, join B to sl st after thumb loop, ch 1, evenly work in v-stitch until rainbow; v-stitch in ea sp across rainbow, and evenly work in v-stitch to just before next corner, sl st in corner, turn.
  • Finishing-Row 2. Ch 1, v-stitch in ea sp across to sp before last, sl st in last sp. DO NOT TURN.
  • Finishing-Row 3. Crab stitch in ea st and sp across. FINISH OFF. Weave ALL ENDS in.

Blocking

Shawl requires aggressive blocking (it’s a thing).

Because of the varying colours in this shawl, I do NOT recommend soaking your shawl to block it.

Instead, lay your shawl flat and spritz it generously with water before pinning it to size and letting it air dry – outside if possible to speed up the process and limit potential for bleed.

All clues are now grouped right on this page!

Official launch of the shawl will take place on June 15th.

In the meantime, post your progress in our CAL group on Facebook or in the Ravelry discussion.
