Materials

Dolce Sock Wool Dots de Hobbii, Fingering weight, 75% Wool, 25% Polyamide – 100 g (459 yd/420 m) – 1 ball

Here: Soft Pink (03)

Hook

3.5 mm hook, or size needed to obtain gauge

Notions

Yarn needle; 2 stitch markers in different colours

GAUGE

12 sc = 2 in (5 cm) in Toe section

10 linked dc and 6 rounds = 2 in (5 cm) 

12 crossed dc and 6 rounds = 2 in (5 cm)

Work in pattern until it is possible to measure work against information above. Adjust hook accordingly.

Available sizes

To fit US Shoe F4-6 ½ (F7-9 ½, F10-12 ½) (M6-8 ½, M9-11 ½, M12-14)

Prioritize the circumference of the foot to choose a size, as you can add rounds to adjust the length.

Your foot circumference: 7 (8, 9) (8, 9, 10) in/17,5 (20,5, 23) (20,5, 23, 25,5) cm

Your foot length: 8 ¾ (10, 10 ¾) (9 ½, 10 ¾, 12) in/22 (25, 27) (24, 27, 30) cm

Each 2-round repeat adds ¾ in (1.7 cm)

Notes

It is important to check your gauge if you want the socks to fit. As these are toe up, you should also try them on as you go!

Your yarn choice needs to include NYLON for your socks to be durable.

Socks are worked from the toes up. 

The Toe section is worked in continuous rounds. The Foot and Leg sections are crocheted with closed and turned rounds. The Border is worked in closed rounds.

Heel is an Afterthought heel.

Special Stitches

Crossed double crochet (xdc): Skip 1, dc in next, dc in skipped st.

First linked double crochet (1st ldc): Insert hook in second starting ch, yarn over, pull up a loop, insert hook at base of starting ch, yarn over, pull up a loop, (yarn over, pull through 2 loops) 2x.

Linked double crochet (ldc): Insert hook in horizontal bar of previous st, yarn over, pull up a loop, insert hook in indicated st, yarn over, pull up a loop, (yarn over, pull through 2 loops) 2x.



INSTRUCTIONS

TOE

Ch 11 to start.

Round 1 (RS). Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across, do not turn. Now working on the opposite side of the chs, under the sc just made, sc in each ch across. Do not join or turn in this section. 20 sc.   

PM in first st and eleventh st.     

Round 2. [2 sc in marked st (move marker up in first st of increase throughout), sc in each st until st before next marked st, 2 sc in st before next marked st] 2x. 24 sc

Rounds 3-5 (6, 7) (6, 7, 9). Repeat Round 2. 36 (40, 44) (40, 44, 52) sc after last round.

Next 7 (6, 5) (6, 5, 6) rounds. Sc in each st around. 

Toe measures approximately 1 ½ (1 ½, 1 ½) (1 ½, 1 ½, 2) in/4 (4, 4) (4, 4, 5) cm.

After last round, sl st in first sc. Do not fasten off.

FOOT

Round 1 (RS). Working in BLO around, sl st in next 2 sts, ch 3 (count as a dc in odd rounds), dc in previous st, work 8 (9, 10) (9, 10, 12) xdc, dc in next, ldc in next 17 (19, 21) (19, 21, 25) sts, sl st in top of starting ch, turn. 36 (40, 44) (40, 44, 52) sts 

Round 2 (WS). Ch 3 (do not count as a st in even rounds), 1st ldc, ldc in next 17 (19, 21) (19, 21, 25) sts, 9 (10, 11) (10, 11, 13) xdc, sl st in 1st ldc, turn.

Round 3. Sl st in next 2 sts, ch 3, dc in previous st, work 8 (9, 10) (9, 10, 12) xdc, dc in next, ldc in next 17 (19, 21) (19, 21, 25) sts, sl st in top of starting ch, turn. 

Round 4. Ch 3, 1st ldc, ldc in next 17 (19, 21) (19, 21, 25) sts, work 9 (10, 11) (10, 11, 13) xdc, sl st in 1st ldc, turn.

Repeat Rounds 3-4, 9 (10, 11) (10, 12, 12) more times.



PREPARE FOR THE HEEL

Linked double crochet are on the Sole. Crossed double crochet are on the Top of Foot.

Next round (RS). Work in established pattern on Top of Foot, fsc 18 (20, 22) (20, 22, 26), skip Sole sts, sl st in top of starting ch. 36 (40, 44) (40, 44, 52) sts

LEG

From here, we will work in crossed double crochet around.

Next round (WS). Sl st in next 2, ch 3 (count as a dc), dc in previous st, xdc around, sl st in top of starting ch, turn. 36 (40, 44) (40, 44, 52) sts

Repeat previous round, 17 (19, 21) (19, 21, 23) more times.

BORDER

Round 1. Ch 3 (do not count as a st), FPdc around, sl in first FPdc, DO NOT TURN in this section.

Round 2. Ch 3, FPdc around first FPdc AND starting ch of previous round, FPdc around, sl in first FPdc.

Rounds 3-5 (6, 7) (6, 7, 8). Repeat Round 2.

At the end of the last round, fasten off.



HEEL

With RS facing, join yarn to Heel opening in space between Top of Foot and Sole.

Round 1. [2 sc in space between Top of Foot and Sole, sc in each st to next such space] twice, do not join or turn in this section. 40 (44, 48) (44, 48, 56) sts

PM in first st and twenty first (twenty third, twenty fifth) (twenty third, twenty fifth, twenty ninth) st.

Rounds 2-7 (6, 5) (6, 5, 3). Sc in each st around.

Next round-12. [Dec over first 2 sts (move marker up), sc around until 2 sts remain before next marker, dec over those 2 sts] twice. -4 sts each round. At the end of the last round, 20 sts remain.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew remaining opening closed.

FINISHING

Sew Heel opening closed. You can use the method of your choice for sewing.

I suggest the zipper or mattress stitch:

With WS facing, insert needle in back loop of first st from the outside in, then insert the needle in the back loop of the st opposite, also from the outside in.

Continue in this way on all the sts to be sewn, then gently pull on the yarn to remove the excess.

When you have finished the seam, cut yarn.

Weave all ends in.

Block lightly as desired.
