My friend Valérie recently asked me where my crochet heart pattern was. She was looking for it and couldn’t find it. I was confused. I don’t have a crochet heart pattern. Then she reminded me where she’d seen it, and I realized that I do, indeed, have a crochet heart pattern! I’d just never realized I did.
This is my Je suis une fée pattern set. Do you see the hearts?
It’s the ties! Well, that’s not where Valérie noticed the hearts, but that’s how I then realized what I’d done and ended up crocheting a gazillion teeny crochet hearts. I’m not kidding. I used up all the yarn for crochet hearts when I was done with the set. In the pattern, the heart instructions are used to make the leaves for the cowl tie and top of the hat decoration.
With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, I thought you might also like to make teeny crochet hearts. So here’s how to crochet them.

Could these be any simpler? Probably not.
