Some quick thoughts on a snowy Tuesday before the holidays.
Indie designers sometimes have trouble convincing people that our work deserves to be paid for. For instance, do you know that those patterns that come on yarn bands on skeins you purchase in big box stores were designed by an actual designer that got paid for her/his work? They are.
I asked my LYS owner to simply change her words when she offers our patterns in kits. Because SHE PAYS US FOR EACH PATTERN SOLD, though you may not see or know this 
She gets it.
So.. LYS owners or yarn makers/dyers, I propose a simple language switch: why not go from ‘free pattern with purchase’ to ‘pattern offered by XYZ with purchase’.
Just that little twist of phrase will help us.
