I interviewed : Luz Mendoza

I recently got an e-mail from Luz saying she was interested in being interviewed for this series. It was great fun getting to know her and her patterns. When and how did you learn to crochet? And when did you start designing your patterns? Who gave you the idea of selling them?

I really try to remember but I cannot! I have always had some kind of needle work in my hands, whether it was crochet, knitting, sewing… everyone did it at home – so did I!

I started formally writing my patterns just over 2 years ago; I was making all sort of things for my kids and family and people kept on asking me where I got them from, and then if I could make some for them. I have 3 young children so making for selling was a no go from the start!, but I was surprised by how much people liked my designs so I decided to share the ‘how to’ and that is how the idea of the patterns came up!

Yes!, I love knitting, sewing, painting, drawing, cooking, making crafts with the kids, I am in the process of updating my shops with all my new knitting and sewing patterns as well!

 

4. Are there any other etsy or online shops you find inspiring?

About launching a business I have one very important tip/advice: only do it if it is your passion, something you really really love and are prepared to work really hard at! It is hard work but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
